The idea of a four-day work week — and its benefits is growing in popularity.

Before you make the leap, author @JoeSanok suggests you do a trial run of the practice.

Well-publicized trials in New Zealand, Iceland, and Japan showed participants' wellbeing improved and they were more productive when they reduced their hours.

Governments in Spain and Scotland have pledged money to fund trials.

Organize And Plan - How To Find Time To Write As A Stay At Home Writer With A Family

Organize And Plan - How To Find Time To Write As A Stay At Home Writer With A Family

Organize And Plan - How To Find Time To Write As A Stay At Home Writer With A Family

Sometimes, writing can be a very solitary task and is often an activity that requires concentration, quiet and absolute commitment. With all that being said, is it possible to balance your writing career and family life without turning yourself into a workaholic?

Yes! It is totally possible. I am a living example of this and I will tell you what my secret to a successful writing career is. The secret is called, "Time Planning." This is one of the most important steps for the aspiring writer's success. Without it, nothing can be achieved.

So, knowing all this, how can you create a great and achievable time plan? Simply make a rough plan of the time allowed for your writing project daily. It is highly important for the writer to know exactly when he/she is going to settle down to write. It is necessary for a writer to feel, free of other responsibilities so that he/she can concentrate on the work at hand.

I have made a simple schedule time plan I usually follow. I encourage you to create your own schedule according to your personal needs, your family's needs and your professional needs. I usually wake up at 6am, shower and prep myself before going to prepare breakfast for my family. By 7am, we are having breakfast.

After breakfast is done, I clear the breakfast utensils and by 8am after the rest of the family has gone off to accomplish their own tasks, I'm sitting on my computer to start my writing tasks. I usually write for 3 hours and by 11am I start doing the rest of the house chores like laundry, cleaning and starting lunch etc.

Lunch is ready by 1pm and I will serve the family members present  and store the rest of the food for the members who are not yet home. I'm usually done with lunch related tasks by 2pm, finding myself back at my work station where I'm able to work for another 3 hours until 5pm. I try to do my easiest tasks during the evening (That is the time slot from 2pm to 5pm). Tasks like layout planning for new stories and articles is usually done around this time.

I put pen to paper and I don't bother if I make mistakes. Next morning, there is plenty of time to revise the pieces  and improve them. If this plan has been working perfectly for me, why shouldn't it work for you as well.  You only have to calculate when and how long you need to write every day. Of course , you must stick to your plan and never give it up, except during emergencies. Remember that your work is also urgent, so please try not to skip it.

If you respect your writing job, other people will too. What is more, they won't feel neglected as you will give them your care and attention during your free time. Furthermore, your house chores will be done in time and you won't feel overworked.

Many a time I used to end up with half burned meals and I felt extremely stressed trying to catch up with all the house chores. So, telling yourself to do it later, is not the solution. Later will come in no time and you will find yourself in a very difficult situation.

Yet, no one will believe your excuses as you have been at home most of the time, and this may cause you to feel inefficient for no reason at all! "A little every day" is my motto, and, in the long run, everything is done and everybody is happy.

Keeping your writing and family under control will make you feel satisfied and everyone, including you, will be happy. Also, keep in mind that there is nothing odd if you work in unconventional places. I sometimes find it stimulating to work in the living room with all the family around. Noise does not bother me. On the contrary, it brings me more ideas.

This article was outlined last evening while my family was watching a comedy show as I sat with them. I did not watch most of the show but I did sit in the living room with them as I worked.  I can perfectly work in a chatty setting. Have you tried it? You may come up with fresh ideas and great articles.

Finally, who says that writing should turn you into a lifeless being?  Shatter the myth! It's up to you to enjoy both your family and your writing career. Simply make a time plan!

Money - Tips On How To Save Money On Your Car's Gasoline

Quote:

"Common sense solutions to lowering your gasoline bills can go far. Carpooling, taking fewer or shorter road trips, and ensuring that your tires are fully inflated can all help stop the pinch at the pump."

Saving On Fuel Consumption

With gasoline prices steadily on the increase, many drivers are finding it more and more difficult to justify spending their hard earned money on the high cost of fuel rather than other necessities like: food, phone, internet, water, rent, mortgages, electricity etc.

With that in mind, below are some  simple steps that you can take to help stretch your dollar a little bit further when it comes to your car's fuel consumption.

1. Walking

If you can walk to a place, instead of driving there, then walk.

For example, If you live near a store, walk to the store instead of driving there.

This will not only help you save on gasoline, but it will also help in reducing the general everyday wear and tear that your car receives by being out on the road.

No to mention, walking is a great form of exercise and is generally safe for most people.
So why not walk off some of those pesky pounds and save some money on gasoline in the process.

2. Researching Gas Stations

The cost of fuel is not the same across all gas stations. Some gas stations have lower fuel prices when compared to other gas stations.

If you are trying to save on fuel, it is good practice to research on which gas stations offer the lowest price and then going to purchase your fuel from the gas station that offers the best deal.

3. Carpooling

If you have children who are in school, consider sharing driving responsibilities with other parents and guardians who live nearby.

This is especially helpful if you can alternate the days on which you drive the children to school.

Perhaps you could drive the children to school on Monday and Wednesday, while the other parents fill in on the rest of the days.

This will not only save you money on gasoline but it will also make the children's ride to school a lot more fun because they will be riding with friends. The same is true for people who drive to work. You can share the responsibility and costs of driving amongst yourselves if you work in the same place or city.

4. Buying A Smaller Vehicle

If you drive a big vehicle like an SUV, your gas mileage per gallon will often be much less than if you are driving a smaller car.

As a general rule, larger vehicles use more gasoline than smaller vehicles. So, if saving money on the cost of fuel is your goal, buying a smaller car is a good start.

5. Purchasing A Hybrid Car

Hybrid cars are fairly new on the market and are therefore still quite expensive, but many find that their benefits outweigh the high cost of purchasing them when the owners factor in their total savings on fuel.

Hybrid cars also usually get better gas mileage per gallon when compared to other vehicles and this will often result in big savings for the owner.

6. Turning Off Your Car's Ignition

If you are stuck in traffic that is moving about an inch per minute, develop the habit of putting your car in parking mode and turning off the ignition.

Sitting in traffic while your ignition is turned on causes your car to use more and more gasoline even though you are packed in one spot and are not getting anywhere.

So, rather than wasting, try to save money by not leaving your car running in traffic, parking lots or in your driveway.

If you need to stop by the store and will be gone for just a few minutes, take the time to turn the ignition off.

In addition to saving on gasoline, you will be ensuring that your car isn't stolen when you turn off the ignition and take your keys inside the store with you.

Many people would be surprised to know that there are many shoppers who leave their cars running while shopping in the store.

7. Stocking Up On Fuel When Prices Are Low

It is a wise move to stock up when gasoline prices are low. If you only get $10 or $15 worth of gasoline every few days, you may end up getting a good price one day and a terrible price during your next trip.

However, if you fill up your car's gasoline tank while prices are still low, you will most likely get the best deal possible.

The ways mentioned above are some of the ways that can help you to save some extra money when it comes to your car's fuel consumption.

Quote:

"Even if gas prices fall, consumers will continue to be gouged at the pump the only thing that we can be sure rises faster that the price of gasoline is the skyrocketing profits of oil companies."

Money - Quick Fixes To Help You Recover From A Money Shortage Emergency

Quote:

"Herein lies the paradox: If you want more of whatever it is you desire, you have to first prove to the universe that you are capable of having it by developing a consciousness that affirms there is no shortage of it. The only way to do this is by creating a vacuum or space for it to be received, and the only way you can create a space for it to be received is by letting go of what you do have, trusting that the universe knows what it is doing. That's the law of circulation in action."

Emergencies Are Part Of Life

Emergencies are a part of life and a money shortage is an emergency that can happen to anyone at any time.

It is not uncommon for money shortage emergencies to occur  following a job loss, sickness, robbery, accident etc.

When you are desperate to raise emergency funds, it usually doesn't take very long for you to realize who can help you and who can't.

Sometimes, those you thought might be able to help might not be able to because they are going through their own hurdles.

This is why it is important for you to know some ways in which you can be able to raise emergency funds incase you ever find yourself in a tight spot.

Here are some ways in which you can be able to acquire emergency funds in case you run out of money

1. Call Your Community Emergency Helpline

If you are living in the USA, call 211 to find out what local resources they might have available in your zip code.

If you live in another country, use and call the local community service to see how they might be able to help you.

211 often has information on housing, vouchers, food and other resources you might be able to get.

2. Social Services

Call or visit the social services organization in your area to see what help they might be able to offer

Often times, social services might be able to help with food assistance, cash aid, jobs, rental assistance, medical assistance etc.

3. Contact your credit card issuers

The first thing you want to do is prioritize getting back on track very quickly. If that means letting your credit card bill go for a bit, so be it.

As soon as you realize that you have a money emergency, contact your credit card issuers and request reduced interest rates and payments

4. Check With Non-profit organizations

Search online and email or call up Non-profits, both local and national to find out if any of them might have funds and resources for those in need.

Many non-profit organizations provide services like food, fuel, shelter, rental assistance etc to those in need, so try and check them out.

5. Request A Payment Extension On Your Car Loan

If you own a car, then for your car payment, call the creditor and request a payment extension.

Perhaps you hate payment extensions, because they require a fee and you still have to make the payment at the end of the contract.

In this case, a payment extension can give you a little breathing room as it helps you to recover during your money emergency.

Expect that you will likely have to pay a fee (usually about 1/3 the car payment amount) for the extension.

However, freeing up the money you need today is your first and only goal at this point.

6. Request A Payment Extension On Your Mortgage

Check to see if your mortgage holder will accept to give you a mortgage extension for a nominal fee. Do this immediately as it will save you a lot.

7. Host A Yard Sale

Another fix, is to host a quick yard sale. You don't have too much time for planning, so do a quick survey of your personal belongings.

Come up with clothes that no longer fit, but  are in good condition, knick-knacks, dishes, and books as well as stuff you bought that you no longer use.

Throw all these goods quickly together, and then go ahead to put up notices regarding the sale.

You can place the yard sale notices at laundry mats and grocery stores around town.

Don't forget to place a yard sale sign at the end of your driveway too. This way, you can make some quick money with very little time and effort.

8. Look For Radio Swap Shows

If you have a larger item to sell, call into local radio stations to see if they have a call in swap show on the weekends. This is a very popular way to quickly convert gently used and more expensive items for fast cash.

9. Ask Your Utility Company To Set You Up On A Budget Plan

Another quick option can be employed when trying to manage your utility and telephone bills.

If you are already on a budget plan, ask that the current bill (plus any previous balance you owe)  be set up for a budget plan.

Expect to pay a down payment. This way, all future bills (while on the back payment budget plan) will be kept current.

The good thing about this is that it is usually interest free, and can give you some much-needed breathing space for a month.

You must be sure to maintain your regular utility payments and budget payments in the coming month though.

10. Seek Help From Your Religious Organization

Check with your religious organization regarding emergency help.

Local religious organizations can be one of the best places to find out what is available in the community to help those in need, or in times of an emergency.

11. Getting Fast Cash Through Borrowing

If you are absolutely, positively, in a bind and you have exhausted all of the above, then consider borrowing. First, ask your family, then your local bank.

As a last resort, you may want to consider what is known as a Payday Loan. These types of borrowing stores can be useful when all else fails.

Quote:

"Continuing to tell stories of shortage only continues to contradict your desire for abundance, and you cannot have it both ways: You cannot focus upon unwanted and receive wanted. You cannot focus upon stories about money that make you feel uncomfortable and allow into your experience what makes you feel comfortable. A different story will bring different results: My thoughts are the basis for the attraction of all things that I consider to be good, which includes enough money, and health, for my comfort and joy."
